January 14, 2012: Breakfast of Champions

Breakfast of champions. And no, I'm not talking about Wheaties!
Danny, my housemate Alex, and I woke up late today and scooted out the door to go to a tour at Berkshire Beer Brewery, which I will write about later in a separate post. When we got back home we were very hungry so I decided to make us a big breakfast. Danny went back to my room to crawl under the covers and warm up while I dove right into the cooking (aka my favorite version of crawling under the covers to warm up)

Breakfast:

  • 1 cup green sludge (see in entry 1/12/12) mixed with pulp free Orange Juice
    • We ran out of "Green Goodness" and orange juice was the next best option. Not very good, not completely horrible. I basically unhitched the back of my throat and downed it along side an organic berry yogurt smoothie before we ran out the door to the brewery tour. Every once in a while I will eat some really disgusting-tasting things for the sake of my health, just as every once in a while I will eat some really delicious-tasting things that are awful for my health!
Lunch:
  • 1 Umcka packet
  • Breakfast of champions
    • 2 eggs
    • 2 1/2 slice bacon
    • cheddar cheese
    • black bean & corn salsa
    • avocado slices
    • All wrapped in a tortilla wrap and toasted to crisp
    • 1/2 an orange
      • WOW. This was such a rich, major mix of flavors that all traditionally fit into breakfast. It was amazingly flavorful and stayed together in the giant tortilla wrap well. The salsa added the needed kick, but Danny likes his extra spicy so he dipped his in hot sauce. We licked our fingertips afterwards and cuddled up on my beanbag, resting in the comfort of our full stomachs. What a nice meal!
Snack:
  • 1 Mango Mochi
Dinner:
  • Tastes of Meat
    • For the meat section of my studies I decided to pick three traditional dishes that used three different main spices from three different places in the world. I'll explain in more detail later on.
      • Indian Lamb Tikka Masala Kabobs
      • Eastern Chinese Sweet and Sour Spare Ribs
      • Sicilian Beef Spiedini with Mozzarella
  • Organic Chicken Santa Fe Soup
    • We had a party at the house the night I made this, thank goodness, because I would never have been able to eat all this meat by myself. The meats were a hit! Each disappeared in several minutes. I tried a bite of each to get the sensory evaluations and had this soup for dinner later in the night. I didn't want to eat too much of the meat, even though it was really good, because I loved seeing how much other people were enjoying it!
