January 17, 2012: Sinful Soup and Freshly Whipped Cream!

Breakfast:

  • 1 cup peach "iced tea
    • I was drinking a hot cup of this tea the night before and it ended up sitting out in the frosty house overnight. It was a nice surprise to find a cool cup of iced tea sitting for me in the morning!
  • 1 organic berry yogurt smoothie
    • mixed in with 1 echinacea supplement powdered
      • YUCK. The echinacea and yogurt did not blend well and I ended up getting these extremely bitter chunks of echinacea that would stick to my lips as I drank the smoothie. I drank it anyways even though it tasted disgusting because I know that it's very good for me
  • 2% organic milk with honey almond crunch granola, sprinkled with a handful of blueberries and half a handful of raspberries
    • I had to take a phone call right before I sat down to eat this and when I came back the granola had gotten mushy! Such a bummer. I love the crunch! It still tasted nice, especially with the sweet goodness of the fruits, but the granola was a disappointment. I guess that's what I get for neglecting my food for a long period of time!
Lunch:
  • Chicken-flavored ramen noodles
    • I feel like a hypocrite
    • I feel self indulgent
    • I know there's nothing healthy or nourishing in it
    • I know it's packed with harmful chemicals
    • I know I'm disrespecting my body
    • I know I could have chosen tea or something instead
    • I know it's probably just as bad as fast food restaurants
    • I know, I know...
But I like to eat a Ramen every once in a while.
    • Is this really bad? I'm consciously going against my better values and I'm owning up to my "sinful soup" eating.
    • On a side note, it was warm, tasty, and the noodles were so much fun to eat!
Snack:
  • 1 fresh carrot from the local farm share
  • Whole Foods organic hot chocolate mix
  • Homemade whipped cream
    • whipping cream
    • powdered sugar
      • I made a couple cups for Jenn and Max to enjoy as well. Listening to music and clinking our mugs together in a toast right before drowning ourselves in this sweet treat lit up my day.
  • Trader Joe's Colby Jack cheese on baked wheat crisps
  • 1 red pepper
    • Eaten like an apple
Dinner (late):
  • 1/2 cup of freshly cooked soup from the crock pot
    • oregano
    • basil
    • rosemary
    • salt
    • pepper
    • onions
    • lentils
    • carrots
    • tomatoes
    • water
      • Warming, savory, fresh flavors that hit the spot!
